What We Are About
The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) reports a 667.8% increase in cybercrime reports between 2001 and 2009. This demonstrates the severity and rapid rise of cyber crime. As more of our lives become dependent on digital technology the more this number is bound to go up. Just to put this into perspective, the FBI reports that violent crime has gone down nationwide on average 5.5% nationwide in 2009. In fact, crime rates rarely exceed double digit inflation in any category. From 2008 to 2009 the IC3 reports a 22.3% increase in cyber crime reports.
The Cyber Crime Registry is a clearing house of information, your one stop shop for finding information, news, resources, education, and prevention / defensive strategies. Tracking down cyber criminals is a difficult task but we aim to help you find some resources that may serve as some long term benefit. If you are a cyber crime victim please take a moment to report your incident - your information really does help. Together with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies we can gather statistics that help us locate these criminals.
Future plans include collaborating with local law enforcement agencies to gather specific localized cyber crime data. Hence the "Registry" in our name. Stay tuned!
